Considerations When Booking A Band

How much does the band cost?

The fee depends on a number of factors, e.g. distance, time of year etc., if you wish to book the band, please contact us for a quote.

Can the band perform our first dance?

Yes. We like to discuss the first dance at least 6 weeks before the wedding date, this allows us time to learn any new material, however, If the song is very obscure, or needs many extra musicians (as in the case of big band music) we normally suggest that the first dance be played on CD.

What happens if my event is running late?

Weddings rarely run on time, however, we are always ready to play at the agreed start time. If your event runs late, we cannot play past their contracted finish time unless agreed before the night of the event with both the customer, GR8EIGHT and the venue. GR8EIGHT cannot accept any responsibility for the timings of the event out with their control.

What if the band get sick/injured?

Will I need to book a disco as well as the band?

The choice is yours! GR8EIGHT can be booked independently, as CDs between sets are provided as standard when you book. Alternatively we have a selection of professional DJ’s that we work with regularly. Please call or e-mail for availability and quote.

Is it possible to come and see you before booking?

Due to the nature of our client base, many of the bookings are private. However, occasionally we play public events, so it is always worth asking us.

Do you have insurance against accidents and damage at venues?

Yes! GR8EIGHT holds public liability insurance.

How loud do you play?

The band can play as loudly or quietly as you like! GR8EIGHT have played many functions of differing size, and can tailor the volume to the size of the room and number of people. We would advise that even though the band is able to keep the volume down, we do have a live drummer, and careful seat planning is essential in this instance i.e. place elderly guests further back from the band.It should be noted that most discos and “backing track” bands are much louder than GR8EIGHT.

Will I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, a small deposit of £150 upon signing of the booking contract.

Do you supply all your own equipment?

Yes! We have a professional PA, and an intelligent lighting system designed for audiences of up to 500 people. For larger events GR8EIGHT hire an extension for the sound and lighting system, this is discussed and agreed with the customer beforehand and then arranged by us.

Do you have any specific requirements?

A safe lockable room must be provided for safe storage of equipment, personal belongings. This room should also be suitable as a changing room for performers. Adequate power supplies are also needed; either a minimum of 2 mains sockets for indoor events or a generator capable of supplying 32 amps single phase at 240V for outdoor events, (Further details available on request). Light refreshments should be provided if GR8EIGHT are at the venue for more than 4 hours.
